Shaya is finishing her undergraduate degree in psychology at George Mason University with the hopes of one day opening up her own private practice as a clinical psychologist. Ever since high school, she has had a passion for helping individuals overcome their darkest emotional battles through therapy. She is a strong believer in showing empathy towards others and being a good listener which is why she is able to connect to and understand her peers and how she plans on building rapport with her future clients.
Born in Washington D.C. and raised in Northern Virginia, Shaya is the only child in a traditional Persian household. The importance of respecting and caring for elders, hospitality, and education were among some of the core values instilled in her from childhood. She has always put her family first as their love, care, and support mean the world to her. Shaya is fluent in both English and Farsi. Her culture is a defining part of her identity and has taught her not only to appreciate diversity but also to better relate to others of different cultural backgrounds.
Shaya is currently a psychiatrist’s office assistant but has also worked as a private tutor and cashier. These various experiences have strengthened her communication and people skills as well as improved her patience, leadership, and organization. She has made the Dean’s List as excelling in academics has always been her utmost priority. She is also a proud member and officer of George Mason’s Persian Club.
When she is not studying or working, Shaya really enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She loves animals and nature. Other interests and activities of hers include music, stand-up comedy, and dancing.
